Friend-of-Pilum Walter Kirn sums it up beautifully. "When he died today, it wasn't just literary people [who felt it]." McCarthy was one of the few writers who brought male readers to the book store any longer. Certainly not an exclusive writer, as Kirn notes, "Cormac wrote for everyone."
